Couple's Baby Shower

The Forman's and Thomason's hosted a Couple's Baby Shower for us. We had a wonderful time. The shower was in early December and the theme was Christmas and Teddy Bears.  The food was amazing. As you can see from the photos below that I apparently forgot to take photos. I need to start doing a better job of capturing the memories. We had a wonderful time visiting with our friends!

Wonderful Idea!

My sister gave Jason and I a wonderful idea so I thought I would share it with you all. The video below outlines the idea but the general idea is setting up an email account to capture memories throughout a child's life. We will both send messages, picture, and videos of the babies to remember special moments. Then one day we will share the emails with our children.  I think it is a great idea and with today's Iphone it will be so simple to do.

29 Weeks

Today was my 29th week check-up and my first checkup since the fainting spell. My doctor was out of town so I saw the nurse practitioner. I really like her a lot. She wrote me an order to wear a Holter Monitor for 24 hours to monitor my heart rate. It was 168 last week and she said that is extremely too high. As with anything medical device, the Holter Monitor was a pain but it is well worth it.

The babies look perfect! Both babies measured 29W2D. Anna Kate weighted 3lbs and Foster weighted 2lbs 14ozs. I am happy that both babies are closer to the same size now.  Anna Kate decided to change positions and is now transverse. Her head is near my belly button and her legs wrap around my right side- yes at times it can be very uncomfortable.  Foster stayed in the same position- head down thankfully.

Overall everything is going really well for us. We had a wonderful Christmas but I am a little said that is it over now.

Failed at Christmas Cards

So I really wanted to send out Christmas cards this year to our family and friends.  However, just like always nothing went as planned. Somehow time slipped away so Jason and I decided to take photos ourself. As you can see the photo was not a success- it is actually pitiful but I decided to share it on the blog anyway. I really did have good intentions.

Merry Christmas!

28 Weeks & Trip to ER

So today I am 28 weeks pregnant! Wow how time has flown by.  This is normally my favorite time of the year- the week of Christmas- but for some reason it doesn't feel like Christmas to me. I guess life is just so busy that I haven't made time to enjoy the season this year. Our Christmas Tree is up but it only has lights and a star- neither Jason nor I have had the time to decorate with ornaments. I included a picture below but don't laugh. We keep referring to it as our Charlie Brown Tree. It probably wouldn't be that bad if I would just decorate it. I guess we are saving up the decorating for next year- the Babies' 1st Christmas! I am excited that Uncle Tim is home and Christina arrives tonight.

Today is my last day to work for the holidays and then I will be off for 8 wonderful days.  It was announced at work yesterday that I will be changing positions due to the developmental rotation I am in.  I will be an Operations Team Leader and I am really excited about it. The only scary part is that I will be working a shift schedule after returning from maternity leave. It will take some adjusting on my part but hopefully will give me more time off with the babies. I told Jason that the babies are going to rock our world in 2012 and we probably won't notice the shake up from my work schedule.

So let me tell you about one of the most scariest days of my life-- TODAY! I had a busy morning at work because today was my annual assessment with the leadership team (ie Managements sits you down and drills you on technical knowledge to see what you have learned over the past year). Needless to say it is very stressful. I prepared all weekend for it and feel that I did a fairly well.  Yes I didn't know everything but was happy with my performance.  After my assessment which took 2 hours, I returned to my office to have Christmas lunch with my co-workers. Oh and it was wonderful. I was stuffed.

My 28 week check up was scheduled for today so I only had an hour to wrap up everything before leaving for the holidays.  I returned to my computer and quickly got to work. While sitting there I noticed that my eyes wouldn't focus and I kept see black halos and felt really nauseous. I walked down the hall and asked a co-worker if my eyes looked okay. He said yes they look normal. I returned to my office and noticed it was getting worse. Since I was about to drive myself to the doctor, I decided to get a member of our Emergency Response Team to take my blood pressure just to make sure everything was okay. Something just seemed off. Well  while he was taking my blood pressure, I passed out.  He said I was out for several minutes and when I came back I could talk but not see anything for a while.  It scared me to death as well as all of my co-workers. They quickly called an ambulance and took me to the hosiptal. I am so fortunate to work with some amazing people. I don't know what I would have done it they weren't there and trained to deal with this kind of situation.

The emergency room and on-call OBGYN ran every test possible I think.  They found that I was severely anemic, had low potassium, and an infection.  The condition that caused me to pass out is called syncope which is caused by compression of the inferior vena cava (the large vein that returns blood to your heart). One of the babies or my enlarge uterus cut off my blood supply/oxygen and caused me to pass out. Yes I know crazy! It was the most scariest thing I have ever experienced. It was almost like I wasn't even worried about myself, I just wanted to make sure my babies were okay. The ER also ran fetal monitoring on the babies and everything appeared to be fine. While I was in the hospital they also checked my liver, pancreas, and gall bladder again ( I had a gall bladder U/S last week due to severe pains) and found nothing. I was hoping they could tell me what was causing the worm pain on my right side but no luck.  I was prescribed iron, antibiotics, and I must eat 2 bananas a day. Also they told me to stay off work for a few days and get some rest.  The other bad thing is that this may reoccur and there is nothing that I can do to prevent it.  It makes me not want to be alone.

I have been really tired over the past few weeks but just thought it was because I was carrying 2 little ones around. Hopefully the medicines will help and I will be back to my normal energetic self. I am so thankful that God had me surrounded by supportive people and sitting at my desk and not alone driving. God is so good.

26 Weeks & 4D Ultrasounds

Today I went to the doctor for my 26 week checkup. Everything looked perfect! Anna Kate weighted 2 lbs  1 oz and Foster weighted 1 lb 13oz. This was the first time that the babies measured different but it was only 4 ounces which is normal according to the doctor.  I asked him a list of questions and discussed my aches and pains. He told me to take Prevacid (15mg) twice a day and that should help with the heartburn. As far as the horrible pain on my right side near my rib cage (what I refer to as the worm), there is really nothing that can help it. I just have to deal with it. Both babies are now head down which surprised me. I can't believe Foster had room to flip.  It looks so uncomfortable on the ultrasound photos.

Below are photos from the 4D ultrasound we had today. It was so exciting to see them both today! We were able to see Anna Kate smile. It was so cute!
